(More customer reviews)Ok, the other reviews of this product weren't that helpfull for me previous to my purchase of this product so i thought i'd throw in my two cents. I'm using this card to replace my old Linksys card which wasn't giving a whole lot of range or power and replacing my old liksys router. I'm now using the DIR-655 in conjunction with this card and i'm getting exceptional range! 300mbps at the fence of my property about 150 linear feet away through multiple walls. The card itself is able to detect networks from a lot farther range than my previous card. I'm very pleased with my purchase. Hope this helps others out. Good Luck.

Belkin F5D7010 Wireless 54 Mbps Notebook Card Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this card after borrowing a card with an identical product number from a friend. My friend's card worked out of the box with my version of Ubuntu Linux.
When I received my card, it simply did not work. After doing some research, I found that I had a card with a different version number, and a different chipset. My friend's card had a chipset made by Atheros, which worked out of the box. The card that I purchased had a Broadcom chipset, which is notorious for being incompatible with Linux. Even after going to the forums, I was unable to make the card work.
Belkin is dishonest, in that it makes changes to the chipset without changing the product number, only the version number, which the consumer is not made aware of. Had I been aware that the card had a different chipset, I would not have ordered it.

(More customer reviews)I agree with several other reviews here that the card is bad. But, if you had bought it and don't want to spend money returnig it, some tweaking would make it work good! A good product should be real plug and play but this is not!!
I bought it as a router and pc card (both D-link 802.11g) set to use at home. I have my desktop connected by cable to the router and my laptop connecting wirelessly. Installation was a snap for both the router and the card and they worked fine and I was able to browse and share files between both the computers - all at good speed.
Trouble started when I went to work with my laptop or when I used laptop on its battery. The card took a long time to recognize the network and the computer kept saying 'cound not connect to network drives'.
The other problem was that my battery drained very fast. So fast to the extent that some times just booting up and reading my emails will already have used up 75% battery!!
Minor trouble; the D-link utility does the exact samething that Windows XP wireless connection manager does. However, there is no (easy) way to disable the utility from loading. Even if you use windows XP to configure wireless connections, the D-link utility sits there and does nothing.
Solutions:
1. You can prevent the D-link utility from loading and this improves performance - makes connections quicker actually. Click Start..Run.. ; Type 'msconfig' and click OK. In the window that appears click the 'Startup' tab; You will see a long list of programs that are enabled at start up. Uncheck 'airplus.exe' and 'reg.exe' both of which run from the D-link installation directory.
2. To conserve battery, Right click the wireless connection icon on the tray; click status... click Properties... Click 'configure' right next to the D-link airplus g card's name. Go to the advanced tab and choose 'powersavemode' from the list..choose property 'normal' or 'maximum' to save your battery.
These two actions make a card actually work better than using D-link's utility (Do all tweaking at your own risk! It worked for me, but, cannot guarantee it'll work for you w/o causing any trouble). Good luck!!

(More customer reviews)the Belkin G adapter with MIMO is a powerful client card for locations with interference issues and signal strength. I used this adapter with the complementary Belkin Pre-N MIMO router for full feature compliance (MAC address filtering, 128bit WEP or PSK, and 54MBPS throughput). All was great, wiwth the exception of the client sofware utility and Windoz XP. After 4 hours, I caved anc called Tech support. The issue was with MS "approved" software conflicts, Dell's implementation of the network (port aggregator) and XP fighting with the Belkin client over turf.....surprise, surprise.... Once identified, sha-zam! I have "excellent" signal clear on the otherside of my house...even oout side! Great card and value!
