Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Home Router with 4-Port Switch Mimo Review

This linksys N router is wonderful. It was easy to get up and running on the standard linksys firmware, which I later upgraded to DD-WRT [...]. I used the mini generic v24 beta version first, and then upgraded to the non-mini version, and now I have a FULL featured wireless N router.
One thing to note, DD-WRT reports this router as a WRT300N, so keep that in mind when you make your purchase :)
Other than this, the features are great, the price is right, and it's simply a solid router. Combine this with a gigabit switch and you'll have the best, most affordable home network.

The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N s Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce dead spots in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 3 times farther than standard Wireless-G.

Belkin N1 Wireless Router Review

Belkin N1 Wireless Router
Average Reviews:

I had this router for a while now (longer than I could return it for a refund). Very often I cannot connect to web sites that I frequently use. Eventually I did some research and found that this router has a fatal defect - its DNS cache will get corrupted over time. The latest firmware from Belkin does not fix it.
When I initially had problem accessing web sites, I naturally assumed that the web sites could be down or my ISP could have problems. One day when I tried to VPN into my office the VPN could not be connected. I tried to ping my office VPN server and the IP address returned was different from the actual IP. My VPN server was on xx.xx.xx.84 but the PING request indicated xx.xx.xx.4. I then used NSLOOKUP to check various DNS servers, and pin-pionted the error to the Belkin router's DNS cache.
The DHCP server in the Belkin router automatically sets the DNS server address to be those provided by my ISP plus the Belkin's own IP address 192.168.2.1. There is no way to get rid of it. If there is a way to only use my ISP's DNS server the problem could be worked around. Belkin does not provide this option.
The DNS cache corruption problem will cause a lot of mysterious connection problems. If you are not familar with TCP/IP networking technology there is no way to find out what goes wrong. Shame on Belkin to release a product with such a critical defect.

Belkin F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter Review

Belkin F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter
Average Reviews:

First, let me say I'm no tech, so my comments are more observational than technical. I bought this unit and the matching Belkin N wireless router because of the range touted by N wireless. I installed the router in the basement of my home to service a desktop which is located on the second floor, at the opposite end of the house from the router. The Belkin N wireless adapter gives me a 4/5 signal strength and moves data at about 78 mbps, even though the signal passes through 3 floors and multiple walls. So, it lives up to the claim of excellent range.
On the downside, once installed, the Belkin program manager was unable to "see" the router, even though the Vista network manager could see it and reported the signal as good to strong. I could not connect to the router using the Vista network manager because of a conflict between the Belkin program manager and Vista. Every time I attempted to connect with the Vista network manager, I got the "blue screen of death" and the computer shutdown. Therefore, if you are using Vista with this product, you must go to the Belkin website and download the driver for Vista and install it. In attempting to resolve this problem, I called Belkin support. That effort proved fruitless as the Belkin support team was unaware that a Vista driver was necessary and that Belkin had such a driver available on the Belkin website. So, Belkin technical support was not helpful in resolving the issue. Thankfully, a call to Dell Support pointed me in the right direction.
Once I loaded the driver, however, the Belkin program manager would not recognize the router. The good news is that the driver removed the conflict and the Vista network manager now allows me to connect to the router and surf the internet.
Bottom line is that the hardware works well but the Belkin program manager was for me at best useless and at worst, a source of trouble.

Kyocera KR1 Mobile Router - Wireless router - 4-port switch - 802.11b/g - desktop Review

I am writing this review just to inform people with Verizon wireless service, using the Verizon USB720 (Novatel U720) modem to be aware of possibly compatibility problems. The situation is pretty simple. When my modem is plugged directly into my laptop, it works almost 100% of the time. When I plug it into the KR1 router, it freezes up every few minutes. When this happens, there is no connection or IP address listed on the "status" page. This freezing occurs until I unplug the router or sometimes after 5 to 10 minutes it fixes itself. It is just not usable this way. Kyocera replaced the router under warranty and the problem is exactly the same. I did upgrade the firmware on both routers. This matter was escalated to D-Link support and they were unable to fix the problem. They are now looking into getting me a different model of router to resolve this. The U720 modem is new, so hopefully they will work the bugs out, but I wanted to make sure this information was available to other buyers. Both Kyocera and Verizon assured me the two units were compatible before I purchased them. I am now locked into a contract with Verizon without a working router and I wouldn't have done that if I'd known of this situation.

Belkin F5D9050 Wireless G Plus MIMO USB Network Adapter Review

I am running a "pre-N" network which simply means it's faster than G speed and with greater range. I bought this adapter for my kids PC about 35 feet away and through an interior wall. The download speeds are nearly as fast as my wired connection - I'm amazed.
Although I'm an advanced user (20 years with a home PC - built a few over the years) getting this device up and running was simply plug and play. I was online in 5 minutes. The connection is rock solid - no drops or loss of speed after a few weeks use. BTW, I opted for USB so the unit can be used on a new PC down the road (since it won't be obsolete for a long while given the speed).
