(More customer reviews)Even though the description says it will fit a WRT-54GL model, "RP-TNC is a common connector for wireless routers. Relocate your current Wi-Fi antenna to..." it doesn't. One end screwed on to the router... the other end didn't even remotely fit the antenna. After waiting for over a week, I found this to be very disappointing. Amazon was gracious enough to take the items back and refund my payment.

(More customer reviews)After exchanging the initial product with one that worked this product did improve the range of my WI-FI. The tech support was great on dealing with the exchange of the bad unit, although I did RMA through DBRoth instead of the manufacturer in the end because it was a quicker exchange. I am broadcasting about 1/4 mile with an external 19dbi antenna using a Linksys WAP54G. At the receiving end I used a second WAP54G with original antennas as a repeater. I tried using various other APs, the Cicso worked best but was more expensive than the Linksys. Others did not perform that well. Do not expect this to double or triple your reception. I saw a 20-30% improvement, which was what I needed. I also tested this product in my office with similar results, 20-30% signal boost. I used WISpy from [...] to test signal strength.

I gusse i thought wrong... the orginal antenna that i had did better then this. But if its all you have it's pretty good.
So i say buy the item and try it out its cheap and good.

(More customer reviews)I replaced the omni-directional antenna that came with my ActionTec (FiOS) router with this one. Using the unscientific measure of "number of bars" as measured by my iPhone, every reading in my house either stayed the same or improved by one. Since there are only three bars total that is, in my mind, a big improvement.
As an aside, I thought I could further improve things by moving the antenna from the back of the router which is on the floor behind a TV to the top of the TV. I did that with a Hawking RP-SMA TO RJ-SMA ( HAC7SS ) cable and some duct tape (to hold the base of the antenna to the upper back of the TV). In that case things went back to the level of the original antenna. Apparently whatever benefit there was from moving the antenna to what I thought was a better location was more than offset from loss introduced by the additional wire and connector.
Bottom line: if you use this to replace your original antenna then the signal will likely improve. If you make other changed the results could go either way.
BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've gotten from other reviewers and continue to return the favor as best as I can.
